We are excited to share with you the first outcomes of this commissioning initiative, Making Art Work, which includes poetry, a cooking demonstration, a music video, downloadable poster, instructions on making DIY instruments at home, and video artworks.
Over the coming weeks new additions will arrive on the site including an essay, a live performance lecture, and a series of podcast conversations. Follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts for the latest news and announcements.
Making Art Work proposes an experimental role for the institution as administrators of economic stimulus for artists. Developed in response to the COVID-19 lockdowns, the project aims to reinforce the importance of creative labour in a time when the cultural and economic value of art has been diminished, with the entire IMA team acting curatorially to develop works for this initiative.
Making Art Work will see over 40 artists from Queensland create new works throughout 2020 to be presented online, at IMA Belltower, and in a forthcoming publication. We look forward to sharing more of these commissions with you over the coming months.
Making Art Work is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
